Metris LABORAS系統是一套利用动作感应器及震动偵測的原理,无关实验環境的採光,可以在全黑的環境下运作,且不需要要求动物的顏色,即可自动偵測几項常見的动物行为,包括:Locomotion、Resting、Rearing、Climbing、Grooming、Drinking、Eating,及Stereotyped Behaviors等。

   LABORAS的系統,除了可以自动偵測动物的行為之外,在同一偵測原理下,尚可偵測动物的軌跡,其准确度可达1mm!所以可以提供动物在飼养笼中,自由活动的轨跡、行进的路徑及距離、行进的速度、平均、最大值,以及偏好位置的分佈。
      Laboras is a sysem that automatically recognizes behaviors of rats
      and mice. This includes normal behaviors (such as locomotion,
      immobility, grooming, rearing, eating, drinking) but also special
      stereotypical behaviors (such as scratching, Wet Dog Shakes,
      Head Shakes, Seizures etc.). Laboras also determines several
      tracking parameters (such as position, speed, distance, number
      of circles etc.)

  另外,像老鼠發出的超音波,雖不為人耳所能听到,但是能夠代表其当时心理舒適或痛苦的狀況,甚至在行為表現之前即已在声音上表達出來了!這对于老鼠在環境适应性、或做痛觉实验、药物实验,以及驚嚇、压力、沮喪、害怕等等实验,都可以在声音上反应其結果。
        
    但是,超音波的声波,並非人耳所能听到的!Metris SONOTRACK的系統, 採用Time Expansion的方法,可以測到20KHz到100KHz的全頻超音波,並將其转为人耳可以听到的声音,可以存成電腦上wav的檔案格式,方便了解老鼠超音波的声波。
 
     Sonotrack records, analyzes and plays back ultrasound vocalizations
      (USV calls) of animals. It can automatically detect the calls and calls
      can be played back to the animal.  The system can automatically
      determine the number of calls in different frequency bands, the min.,
      max. and average duration of calls, the min., max. and average frequency
      of calls, etc.

SONOTRACK is an advanced non-invasive measurement system to monitor ultrasonic sounds produced by animals. By using a dedicated microphone and hardware the system is able to pick up ultrasonic vocalizations (USV) of animals generated at frequencies between 15 kHz and 100 kHz.

The system not only records and converts the ultrasounds in a for humans audible signal but also provides several graphical presentations of the recorded sounds and an user adjustable Ultrasound Call counter. This counter determines the number of calls in user definable frequency bands, the start time and duration of each call as well as the mean frequency of each call.
Examples of application area: Ethology, CNS and Pharmacology, Bio Acoustics, Pain, Animal welfare studies.
